HOW WILL I BE INVOLVED IN MY CHILD’S LEARNING?
At Treehouse on Ranolf we aim to provide an environment where communication is informative, reciprocal and responsive between staff and parents. We aim to do this by providing positive, honest and open dialogue with families/whanau.
There are many ways that we provide this, these are:
- Daily information pages that are displayed by the sign in area, these provide you with a snapshot of your child’s day.
- Monthly newsletters that provide parents with information regarding social events, teacher professional development, areas of play that we are upgrading, or review areas. Parents are also invited to give recommendations on curriculum areas when we are reviewing them.
- We use the documentation software Story Park, this can be accessed via the internet and also an app on your smart phone. Stories are secure on this programme and can be accessed instantly by parents who have control over who can view and comment on their children s stories.
- Daily report sheets for the infants and toddlers, these record nappy changes, sleep times, bottles and food eaten.
- A calendar of events that indicates when different events, reviews, and outings are planned is up on both sign in areas.
- Parent teacher interviews are held biannually for teachers and Whanau to communicate and celebrate about their child’s learning.
- Teachers will upload your child’s individual development plans and learning stories onto Story Park. We also ask that parents contribute to these plans through the comment section, and stories from home can also be shared, this ensures links between the home and Treehouse environment are strengthened and shared understanding of the child’s learning is developed and held between both parties.
- Annual or as required, parents are invited to meet with management and teachers to share decisions concerning their children’s care and education. These planning evenings influence and direct our strategic plan. The strategic plan can be found at each sign in area.
- Parent education evenings are offered on an ad hoc basis throughout the year.
- if you have any concerns please see the centre manager, she is always available to talk.
- Our Education Review office Report can be found on the notice board or at ero.govt.nz
- every policy or review that is to be reviewed is mentioned in the newsletter and available for your consultation at the sign in area, we value your input for future improvement. Our full set of policies is located in each sign in area.
